Candle Care Tips

We love scented candles and we believe so do you! And that's why we want you to have the best tips to ensure every candle experience is as good and safe. Here are our 6 top tips for all candle users to make the most out of your every candle.

The First Burn
We totally get it, the excitement of lighting up a fresh new candle for the very first time. But there will be times where you have to leave the room or head out which you'd extinguish the candle early. Then you'd notice your subsequent burn the candle 'tunnels'

Candle waxes holds a 'memory' so the first burn is important to ensure an efficient subsequent burn. On your first burn, allow the candle to fully melt across the top surface and reach the edges of jar. We recommend burning for 2-3 hours on initial burn.

Trim Your Wicks
Always trim your cotton candle wicks to 1/4 inch (5 mm) before relighting each time. You can use a small scissors or a wick trimmer for difficult corners once your candle has burned down.

Tall and untrimmed wicks will mushroom in which your candle flame will burn much hotter and produces black soot. Even with soy candles which does not really soot, having an untrimmed wick may cause sooting. Candles that burns hotter will also burn faster than your usual burn time. Your candles will burn up to 25% longer if you trim the wick every couple of hours. So trim your wicks! It will ensure a safe and clean candle burn each time with improved candle's lifespan.

Safety First
Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Burning a candle too long will cause your wick to mushroom in which we mention above will burn hotter and faster.

Always burn your candle on a heat-resistant, flat surface. Allow your candle to cool & solidify before you trim your wicks and relight.

Keep Away From Drafts
Drafts are known as moving air current. When burning your candle, avoid placing it directly under the fan, air conditioner, open windows or areas with moving air current. The movement of air current will affect the candle flame to dance around which causes sooting.

Keep your lighted candle away from flammable items such as curtains and papers.

The Final Burn
When your candle has finished burning, it may leave up to 1cm of wax at the bottom of the jar. This is completely normal and acts as a safety feature in our candles. This prevents the candle from overheating towards the bottom of your candle jar which may crack and damage the surface.

You can then clean and empty out your candle jars easily to repurpose them at home.

Light & Enjoy
Now that you are a candle expert, go ahead relax & enjoy your candle! You can always refer to the bottom of our candle jar for a quick candle care reminder.
