Back in November, we've partnered with Animal Projects & Environmental Project (APE Malaysia) so that every purchase made will help plant trees in Borneo for our first year anniversary. We had set a commitment to donate a portion of our November sales proceeds in Malaysia & Brunei and hoped to achieve a goal of 25 trees (RM20/tree) for this cause.

We are so excited to share with you that we had surpassed our initial goal and contributed to plant 57 trees! These tree saplings of various native species were planted along the Lower Kinabatangan, Sabah on former agricultural and logging sites. 

What are the success indicators of this reforestation program by APE? As of 2016-2019:

• First sighting of mother and baby orangutan nesting in trees planted by volunteers at tree-planting site in July 2016
• Sightings and indirect evidences of wildlife within various planting sites such as deer, civets, macaques, hornbills, tortoise, frogs, reptiles and various birds;
• Junior canopy generated within 3 years of care and maintenance with trees at least 3.5 metres (12 feet) tall on each reforested plot;
• 3.5 hectares of reforested floodplain rainforest;
• 35,000 of trees;
• 75-85% survival rate – one of the highest in the region to see the formation of healthy junior canopies within 3 years

Regardless if you have made a purchase with us throughout November, we are grateful for your support and for being part of this campaign. We hope this makes a lasting and significant benefit to the environment as in 3-10 years, these saplings will converge with the rest of the trees and connect to form rainforest canopy.
